Lead Clinical Pilates

Renée Steel’s discovery of the benefits of Joseph Pilates teachings began while studying dance at The Royal Academy of Dance in London. While dancing her way through Europe, her Pilates practice ensured an illustrious career.
Renée holds a Diploma in Ballet Teaching Studies at The Royal Academy of Dance in London. She is also a qualified Contemporary, Tap and Jazz teacher, holding a Certificate in Dance Education (AISTD, Tap/Jazz) with the ISTD, London.
Since returning to Australia, She has worked as a lecturer at Federation University’s Performing Arts Programme and currently teaches dance at the Melbourne Academy of Performing Arts. Her students at the Academy thoroughly adore their conditioning training which includes the original Contrology series devised by Joseph Pilates. Completing her Diploma in Clinical Pilates at Breath Education.
With 20-plus years of teaching experience, Renée looks forward to imparting the joy of movement with NU Pilates clients.

Olivia Clark is an aspiring musical theater performer and dancer. She loves everything associated with music and movement. Pilates has been a part of her training for many years, and she loved how this body conditioning system allowed her to heal from injuries and also allowed her to strengthen her body. As a result she decided to take her knowledge of Pilates to the next level, and trained with the Australian Pilates and Physiotherapy Institute, studying both Matwork and Reformer.
She has worked as an instructor in a clinical setting and also teaches group reformer and matwork. She has a particular interest in injury prevention, pre and post natal conditioning as well as conditioning for dancers. Aboveall, Liv is extremely passionate about building rapport with clients and assisting them with their fitness journey. She is very excited about sharing her knowledge and love of movement with the clients of NU Fitness.

Jess discovered the Pilates method after taking up Egyptian dance in her early teens. Her dance instructor was very concerned about her posture for her age and strongly suggested she start doing Pilates.
She quickly realised the benefits of the method, both physically and mentally and so decided she would make it her career. She studied with the highly regarded National Pilates Training.
Jess is passionate about how Pilates provides a deeper intention and meaning to exercise and allows you to shut the outside world off during practice and devote time to nourish your body.
She also enjoys connecting with clients and has a genuine passion for helping them find enjoyment through movement by continuously building strength, enhanced flexibility and coordination.
Phillip
Clinical Personal Trainer
Phillip is a clinical Personal Trainer who has received his Certificate III & IV in Fitness while currently Studying Physiotherapy at Victoria University.
He has been training in the gym for 3 years and has also picked up muay thai. Phillip loves pushing people and helping them see results that they once thought were impossible by cultivating a positive and energetic environment.
He has experience training individuals of all age ranges from teens to elderly adults as he currently works at 2 leisure centres and sees an array of clients with different ranges of capabilities. He also had experience working with disabled clients and is able to cultivate a safe environment for any individual.

Discovering jazz ballet as a six-year-old, I unleashed a love of fitness, later playing basketball in high school. Since 2006 I have had several Management roles in the Fitness industry including Marketing Manager, Regional Group Fitness Manager & Club Manager. However, my true passion lies in the Studios where the magic happens.
In 2012, I completed my Cert III & IV in Personal Training and then in 2014 completed my Reformer Pilates course. In this time, I have taught and changed the lives of over 2000 clients in classes and filmed over 500 Live & On Demand classes.
I live and breathe fitness and I am all about creating an experience from the moment you walk in, to the high five or hug you’ll receive from me when you leave my class a happier person. I cannot wait to meet you, find out your goals and ensure you feel comfortable and connected in my classes.
Arjan
Physiotherapy & Exercise Science Manager
Arjan Nalliah joins the team as our Physiotherapy and Exercise Science Manager and brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to NU. He has a background in the Fitness Industry and Strength & Conditioning. Arjan’s last Strength and Conditioning Coach role was with Sri Lanka Cricket which included rehabilitating long term player injuries, becoming the Head of Strength & Conditioning.
Since returning to Australia 10 ago, Arjan has predominantly worked as a Physiotherapist, and Exercise Scientist. Sporting involvement included the Sandringham FC/St Kilda FC – VFL, South Melbourne FC – Soccer and Tennis Australia. Arjan has found postural strengthening vital for reducing symptoms for all his clients, he is excited to integrate Physiotherapy with one on one Clinical Strength Training here at NU!
He and his wife Anoushka have three children, aged 11, 7 and 5. In his free time, he likes training his kids for sport and going for runs with his 11 and 7 year olds.
Arjan is available for Physiotherapy assessment and treatment, as well as Rehabilitation and one on one Personal Training. The good news is this can also be claimable through your private health cover.
Rachael
Clinical Pilates Instructor
Rachael adores all things fashion, fitness and fun. After carrying some injuries from junior sports days and a particularly difficult second pregnancy with not one but two unplanned C-sections, things took a toll on Rachael’s core and lower back. Nothing had worked until she started her Pilates journey, building back her core and back strength.
Astounded at the results and now being in the best shape of her life in her early 50s, Rachael would love nothing more than to share with you all the incredible things that Pilates can do for you. Rachael hopes to see you in the studio!
